Team
Our team consists of tatami craftsmen who understand authenticity and creators renowned in various industries.
Traditionally, authentic tatami has been crafted from natural igusa rushes, cultivated by dedicated domestic producers.
Tatami that can adapt to the way we live in the future while maintaining quality.
It doesn't have to be round, small, or colorful. It doesn't even have to be tatami.
That's how versatile and free tatami is.

I continue to participate in local practical training with Igusa farmers in Kumamoto Prefecture twice a year, learning alongside them and contributing to hand-sewn tatami dedications at various locations. I believe that people need opportunities to start something new, and I am grateful for the connections that have allowed me to do so.

Ono Tatami Shop (Ohtawara Town, Tochigi Prefecture)
Since 2011, I have participated in practical training in Yatsushiro City, Kumamoto Prefecture, a major igusa production area, and gained an understanding of the strenuous work involved. In the face of the decline in traditional Japanese tatami due to factors like a reduction in tatami rooms, the rise of inexpensive foreign-made igusa, and the spread of artificial materials, we want to convey the natural functionality, beauty of the product, and the functional beauty that suits Japan's climate and culture to as many customers as possible.

Conclusion
SCROLL
Just like there are rice farmers for rice,
Did you know there are igusa (rush grass) farmers for tatami?
Did you know how lush and green the igusa fields in the rice paddies are,
And what kind of work the farmers do?
Tatami exists in our daily lives like the air.
There must be tatami craftsmen in the town where you live.
But do you know what tatami craftsmen are particular about,
And what brings them joy in their work?
In the "Tatami and Agriculture" segment,
Please experience the landscapes that nurture igusa and the thoughts of igusa farmers.
In the "Tatami and Craftsmanship" segment,
Learn about the hopes entrusted to the present of tatami and the future of craftsmen.
Each is just over 3 minutes long.
We hope that, more eloquently than any words or documents,
The videos will show you a world you didn't know.
(December 2022, Naoki Imamura)
